- Several years ago my uncle and cousin bought some land and began to build on it, and plant a vineyard. After things progressed they asked me to design their wine label. At the time, all I had seen was an architectural drawing of the first cottage-style building they had planned. With that knowledge, along with some verbal descriptions of the surrounding farmland, I came up with this painting. As often happens with such assignments, I included too much detail, which would disappear when reduced in size. I created a smaller and more simple design for the label, and this original piece hangs in the tasting room of the Cottage Winery near Menomonie, Wisconsin.
